Game 16 Recap: BU 3, BC 1

The Final Score at Conte
Yes, this game recap is extremely late but I thought I’d take the time to write it anywho. Last Saturday, BU earned a 3-1 victory over BC at Conte Forum. It was an excellent game, with BU controlling the play for the first two periods, and surviving a BC onslaught in the third.
BU got on the board very quickly, with Corey Trivino finding a lost puck in the legs of a BC defender, and sniping it past John Muse just two minutes into the game. After that, BU would continue to control the play territorially for the first period, but would not be able to solve John Muse again.
In the second period, tempers started to flare. It all started with Nick Petrecki absolutely crushing Jason Lawrence into the boards. Personally, I thought the hit was a little high, and Kat agrees with me. However, after sorting things out, the refs somehow managed to make things even! I really don’t know how that happened, because even the announcers on ESPNU were saying that things should be even except for a penalty to Petrecki. What hurt even more was that Brian Strait was lost with a misconduct for most of the period.
It was in the second period though, that BU would double their lead. Chris Connolly got a clean breakaway and was walking in alone, when BC defender Tommy Cross would leap and try to trip up Connolly. Connolly got his shot off, but referee Dave Hansen felt that he was interfered with enough to get a penalty shot. With the crowd rocking, Connolly broke in on Muse, slowed it up, and fired it low to Muse’s right, burying it. The score would be BU 2, BC 0 heading into the third.
In the third, BC would really turn things up. They maintained a lot of pressure on BU, and finally beat Millan on a puck that he should have covered up. He would stay strong for the rest of the period though. Nick Bonino would add insurance as he swiped at a puck and sent it cross ice into the empty net with just 00.1 seconds left.
The Good
- Brandon Yip again played an excellent game… his entire line was very good.
- Kieran Millan stood strong, though I still think we should go with a rotation.
- Good to see the players sticking up for each other, this team seems very cohesive.
- Chris Connolly’s Penalty shot!
The Bad
- The third period. It was BU’s strength last year, but this year we can’t seem to shut it down as well.
Overall, a very good game from BU and a great showing from BU fans. I think it was the most scarlet and white I’ve ever seen at Conte Forum, and I really wish I took a picture of it. Jack Parker and the Terriers were very appreciative as well, releasing a video to thank the fans. I’m glad that happened… it really showed to me that BC needs to show some more support for their team. They have a very good hockey team, and they should be proud of them.
BU is next in action against UMass Lowell at Agganis on Friday night. Game time is set for 7pm. Game Preview to come later this week!

Hey Joe, love the site. I’m definitely going to link it. It’s too bad you stopped by when I don’t have a lot going on blog-wise, seeing as I have finals coming up. It’s also too bad the Sioux couldn’t represent a little more at the Icebreaker.

Thanks Fetch. I’ll be sure to go by your blog as well, keep up the good writing! Go BU!
