Gilroy and McCarthy Receive the Regular Season Championship trophy

Gilroy and McCarthy Receive the Regular Season Championship trophy

At the beginning of the season, no one would have expected the final Hockey East game to be as meaningful as it was.  While Hockey East is always a league that runs wire to wire, the matchup between Boston University and Providence College on Sunday had major implications…. it would determine the Hockey East Regular Season Champion. Brandon Yip Reached 100 Career Points in the Victory

Having just returned from a trip down I-95 to Schneider Arena at Providence College, in a game the Terriers knew that they needed and thus could not concern themselves with Payback from the only loss that they have suffered since Thanksgiving when newcomer Friar Goalie Alex Beaudry previously looked to be every bit the second coming of former Friar Great and Hockey East legend Chris Terreri Read more

Following up their impressive come-from behind victory at the Mullins Center Friday night, the Terriers convincingly showed why they are the number 1 team in the nation, scoring 7 consecutive goals en route to a 7-1 victory at Agganis Arena on Saturday night.  6 different Terriers factored in the scoring, showing just how talented this team is from top to bottom. Matt Gilroy and His Senior Classmates were Key in the Comeback

Matt Gilroy and His Senior Classmates were Key in the Comeback

After possibly leaving a point on the ice, frankly, by inexplicably sitting Kieran Millan while on his way to improving his greatest winning percentage to start an NCAA career start record that he set (breaking BU’s own and current Terrier Women’s Ice Hockey Coach Brian Durocher) after getting Grant Rollheiser much-needed ice minutes the previous evening when The Terriers jumped out to a multi-goal lead and had a four goal insurmountable lead less than 20 seconds into the second period in the first game at Orono two weekends ago, Read more

The two ties left BU wanting more

The two ties left BU wanting more

Getting around to the recap of the second game this past weekend… another unsatisfying tie.  The titans of Hockey East played a full 130 minutes of hockey and weren’t able to settle anything.  One thing is for sure though, it was a great atmosphere at Matthews Arena.  Penalties marred the game though, and prevented what was sure to be some great hockey. Brandon Yip was the cause of much excitement in the game

Brandon Yip was the cause of much excitement in the game

In the first game of the weekend with NU, nothing was settled.  On the scoreboard that is.  After a dominating performance in the first period that saw the Terriers take a quick 2-0 lead, the Huskies dominated play for the remainder of regulation.  While overtime would provide some good opportunities for the Terriers, the two clubs left Agganis with a rather un-satisfying 2-2 tie. Jason Lawrence potted a Power Play goal

Jason Lawrence potted a Power Play goal

While nearly being guilty of looking past the River Hawks, BU managed to pull away in the third period, defeating Lowell by a final of 5-3.  Vinny Saponari would provide the heroics, putting away the game winner midway through the third period.  However, with the way this game started out, the final score is actually quite deceiving. It’s been a few days (far too many) since the tilt between BU and BC at Agganis Arena, and I think it’s time that I provided a bit of a recap.  This has to have been one of the best performances for the Terriers yet this year, controlling play throughout much of the game. Read more

Grant Rollheiser made 21 saves in the Loss

In a game that showed hard work does count out on the ice, Providence defeated BU by a score of 4-2 at Agganis Arena.  Matt Bergland was the number 1 star of the game, notching two goals.  Grant Rollheiser would absorb the loss for the Terriers, giving up 4 goals on 25 shots. Read more

Chris Connolly was the #1 Star

There was no hiccup in the Terriers’ game as they defeated the Maine Black Bears handily at Agganis Arena.  Chris Connolly was the star of the game, scoring two goals on the night.  With the victory, BU moved into the #1 spot in the Pairwise rankings, a stark contrast to where the Terriers stood last year.
